(Dudley, however, has two bedrooms, one to sleep in and one for all his toys and games.) Then Harry starts receiving mysterious letters and his life is changed forever. He is whisked away by a beetle-eyed giant of a man and enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason: Harry Potter is a wizard! The first book in the “Harry Potter” series makes the perfect introduction to the world of Hogwarts.

Review: What can I say I am a huge Harry Potter fan so I really only have good things to say about this. I know it’s been reviewed over and over and over again but I decided in honor of the new one coming out I would review it again and of course…talk about it on here. diagon-alley-5

The first time I read this story I was 16 years old and I could not put it down. I have read it over and over again and could recite some of it off by heart.

mirroroferisedBy far it’s the least of my fav books as it’s the most childish and a lot of the story is spent getting to know everyone. Which is fine, it is what you have to do in a series like this. For kids who are just starting out and still too young for the violence and action of the later ones this is a great one to start off with. The movie is also the same and I would suggest reading/watching close together.

I read the illustrated version which is very heavy but man is it beautiful. The pictures are well done and close to what I would imagine it would look like (minus the Hollywood) version. They are full of color and life and detail. Great job, this is a version I am so happy to have. Pictures really make it better. harrypotter-edition

Of course Harry Potter is not for everyone and I know people who didn’t like the books/series at all and that is fine. For the ones that are huge fans make sure you get this version.
